Girls Dominate Wildcats
by Owen Kimbell
The Rose Hill Girls basketball team played El Dorado Tuesday night. The girls handled El Dorado easily and won the game 67-21 even though they had a running clock in the 4th quarter. Four of the girls were in double digits with Emma Cunningham having 15, Emily Adler having 13, Breckynn Myers having 13, and Drew Glennemeier having 10 points. Coach Welch said, “We were able to jump out to a big lead due to forcing turnovers and getting out in transition for easy baskets. We came out very aggressive and put them away early with a 24-3 lead after the 1st quarter. Overall we were very balanced with four kids scoring in double figures.” This was a solid win for the girls, who had been looking for a dominating win. The girls will play again next Tuesday at Winfield.
Boys Battle Hard
by Braden Geer
On Tuesday, the Rockets hosted the El Dorado Wildcats. The Rocket boys teams won at the freshmen and JV levels but were unable to pull through at the Varsity level. The Rockets battled hard, however, they were unable to pull out the “W”. They faced a couple big challenges, mainly missing key players. The starting five for Rose Hill included Dylan Sapp, Peyton Austin, Aaron Moore, Koby Campbell, and Ian Liechti. The high scorers for the Rockets were sophomore Koby Campbell with 18 points and Senior Dylan Sapp with 11 points. The Rockets fought hard but came up short; at the final buzzer, the Wildcats led 58 - 52. Head Coach Josh Shirley remained positive and kept his head up saying, “We battled them all night; it came down to who made the plays in the last four minutes of the game, and credit to El Dorado, they made more plays down the stretch than we did.” Next Tuesday the Rockets will travel to Winfield to take on the Vikings.
