400 Relay Leads Girls

The Rose Hill girls swim team traveled to El Dorado on Saturday for the AVCTL meet. The girls would have another relay qualify for the state meet on Saturday. The 400 Free Relay team consisting of Sarah Sissel, Dakota Bastin, Tori Kaiser, and Emma Cunningham qualified with a time of 4:07.26, which makes them the second relay to qualify for the state meet for the Rockets. The 400 Free Relay team would also make its way up to the podium with a 2nd place AVCTL finish. The 200 Free Relay team consisting of Sarah Sissel, Hannah Farber, Tori Kaiser, and Emma Cunningham also found their way to the podium by taking 3rd place on Saturday. Sarah Sissel would qualify for state in the 50 Free with a time of 26.93. The girls placed 6th overall in the league meet and will have multiple swimmers participating in the state swim meet. The State Swimming Meet will take place in Topeka on Friday and Saturday.
AVCTL at Wellington

The Rockets track team traveled to Wellington on Friday to compete in the AVCTL track meet. Both the boys and girls had a tough time scoring points for the team. Freshman Faith Exley stepped up and was able to score 8 points for the Lady Rockets and also helped the 4x100 team place 3rd to score another 6 points. Senior Emily Witt also had a good meet scoring a total of 10 points without running her best race, the 800-meter Run. Junior Gracie Van Driel placed first in the girls’ high jump to be named league champ and score 10 points; Gracie also ran in the 4x100 to help the girls place 3rd. The boys also had a rough meet but were able to score enough points to beat Wichita Collegiate. Senior J. J. Carney earned the 400-meter dash league championship running a time of 50.83 beating the runner up by a full 2 seconds. J. J. also ran in the men’s 2nd place 4x100 and the 5th place 4x400. Dylan Sapp scored a total of 14 points placing 2nd in the high jump and 3rd in the long jump and ran in the 4x100. The Rockets will travel all the way to Chanute for their Regional on Friday.
