Heartbreak Ending for Ladies
by Braden Geer
Saturday was the end of an era for Rocket basketball; by the end of the night both boys and girls teams had finished the course of their season. The Lady Rockets finished with an incredibly successful team in this season and other successes in previous seasons. The Lady Rockets traveled to Nickerson to take on the Panthers for the Sub-State championship game; this would be the second time the girls would see the Panthers having lost to them weeks before in the Haven tournament. The last time the two teams faced was a back and forth outing never being more than a few points apart and this would prove to be true again for Saturday’s game. The Lady Rockets battled hard throughout the entirety of the game playing hard defense as well as clutching up points to get a lead. However, what the Lady Rockets struggled at, the Panthers exploited. The Lady Rockets struggled to get defensive boards and prevent second chance shots; being smaller is partly to blame for it. At the final buzzer, the Rockets were down 51 to the Panthers 58. With the end of the season came emotion from both players and spectators as they realized the extent of the loss. As some players leave for good new ones come and the program will hopefully continue the success laid before them by those graduating.
Tough Ending to a Great Season
by Konner Barron
On Friday night, March 1st, the Rose Hill Rockets traveled to Andale to take on the #2 seed in Substate, the Andale Indians. The Rockets knew coming in it was going to take a perfect a game to beat the Indians. The first quarter seemed promising as they were going toe to toe with Andale; it was 15-11 at the end of the first. The second quarter was completely different as it seemed Andale couldn’t miss a shot. Rose Hill went into halftime down 12. In the 3rd quarter, the Rockets couldn’t get anything to fall as they fell down 49-27 as the 4th quarter began. In the 4th quarter, the Rockets showed the heart and effort they played with all season long that helped them have one of the most successful seasons in a long time. Even though they lost 63-45, they held their head high for what they accomplished. The Rocket boys will be back next year with extra motivation.
