League Track Moved to Andale
by Grant Scheer
The track team competed in their AVCTL League meet in Andale on Friday in a meet that was supposed to be held in Rose Hill but was moved to Andale after the Rose Hill area received over 10 inches of rain Tuesday and Wednesday. On the girl’s side, they finished 3rd overall with several top placers. Faith Exley placed 2nd in the 100-meter dash along with April Carney trailing close behind in 5th. Exley also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.20. In the 400, Jenna McCulloch placed 5th. Maddie Bryant came up with a 4th place finish in the 800. Keeping things going, Alexia Struble placed 3rd in the 1600 and 2nd in the 3200. In the field, Haley Thrush placed 3rd in the triple jump. On the boy’s side, they placed 5th overall. In the 100-meter dash, Luke Witt finished in 5th. In the 200-meter dash, Mason Lane placed 3rd with a time of 23.99. Drew Leck has consistently been among the top 3 in just about every track meet this year. He finished 2nd in both the 1600 and the 3200, which are not easy events. Leck has a lot more to bring to the table these next couple years, as he is only a sophomore. Senior Lathe Cobb finished 2nd overall in the 110 meter hurdles. On the field event side, Mason Lane led the way with a 3rd place finish in the triple jump. In the discus, Colton McGrew threw a 134’2” putting him in the 3rd place spot as well. The team did very well all together and only have two more competitions. They will be in Chanute on Friday, May 17 for their Regional Meet.
Girls Compete at League
by Grant Scheer
The Girl’s swim team traveled to El Dorado for their League meet on Saturday. Unfortunately, the team didn’t receive any league honors nor did they qualify anyone for state. Their best placing was 7th in the 200-yard medley relay with Sarah Baden, Savannah Kiser, Tori Kaiser, and Elle Debbrecht. Overall, they placed 9th. They are still a young team overall and have a lot of hard work to do during the off-season. The two seniors they will be losing are Savannah Kiser and Ana L Castilho.
