Track Qualifies 14 for State

The Rose Hill track team partook in their Regional meet last Friday in Chanute. Despite the long drive, the team had a decent day of competing. The boys finished in 5th place while the girls finished in 7th. The qualifiers for the boy’s side are Lathe Cobb, Drew Leck, Chance Hanning, Colton McGrew, and Colby Heinz. Cobb took 3rd in the 110 and 300-meter hurdles landing him a spot at the state meet. Leck took 1st in the 1600-meter run. Hanning threw a 45’8” in shot put, landing him a 2nd place spot. McGrew also took 2nd as he threw a 140’1” in discus. To wrap things up for the boys, Heinz placed 2nd in javelin with a throw of 152’7”. On the girls end, Aubrie Thomison, Jenna McCulloch, Alexia Struble, Mia Kuehn, Maddie Bryant, Faith Exley, April Carney, Haley Thrush, and Teyenne Beedy (as an alternate) will all be participating at the State Meet. Thomison finished the 100-meter hurdles in 4th place booking her a spot at next weekend’s state meet. The Lady Rocket 4x8 and 4x1 relay teams also qualified. The 4x8 is made up of McCulloch, Struble, Kuehn, and Bryant. The 4x1, however, includes Carney, Exley, McCulloch, and Thrush. In the 100-meter dash Exley placed 2nd with a time of 12.63. Thrush had an impressive day as she was the top finisher in the triple jump with a distance of 32’4”. All around it was a great day of competing. The State Qualifiers will compete at the State Track Meet at WSU on Friday and Saturday.
