Senior Night Sweep for Softball
by Braden Geer
The Lady Rockets hosted the Buhler Crusaders on Monday for the Rockets senior night activities and the last home game of the season. The Lady Rockets kicked off the first game by putting up two runs on the Crusaders followed by another in the second. After taking an inning off the Lady Rockets went on a run putting up run after run to enforce their lead. Finally in the sixth inning, the Crusaders put up two runs; however, the Lady Rockets answered by sealing the deal and scoring six more on the Crusaders. The First game ended with a final score of 13-2. In between games the Rockets took the time to commemorate the seniors and all of the work that they have put in over the years. Seniors Sydney and Emily Adler and Kylie Dunn were acknowledged and thanked for the work they have put in. The Rockets went into the next game fired up and kicked off by scoring six runs on the Crusaders followed by eight in the second and one more in the third to get the run rule. The second game ended with a score of 15-0 and the home sweep to end the regular season.
Split on Senior Night
by Grant Scheer
The Rocket baseball team hosted the 16-2 state-ranked Buhler Crusaders for senior night on Monday. Due to potential severe weather, the game was moved up to a 2:30 pm start time. The seniors include Braden Geer, Brady Koenigsman, Caden McLean, and Cole Wagner. Due to McLean moving into town this year, he was not able to live out the four years as a Rocket baseball player like the other seniors did. They have had their ups and down, but regardless they stuck with it. In the first game of the night, Rose Hill fell to Buhler 11-4. However, the tides changed after their senior night festivities between games. They came out and competed fiercely, as they made the score 7-7 going into the 7th. The stakes were now very high with Geer on third base. The Crusaders made a wild pitch and Geer did not hesitate one bit as he made an all out sprint for home. There was a moment of pure joy as Braden stepped across home plate quickly followed by a team dog pile in celebration. The team is now waiting to see whom they will have for their play-in game on Monday, May 13th.
