Rocket Wrestlers Beat Crusaders

On Thursday the Rocket Wrestling team traveled to Wellington for their league dual with the Crusaders. They went into Wellington sitting at 1-3 on the year in duals and were looking to get a big win on the night to get back on the right track. Jordon Montemayor and Braden Tatum started the night well for the Rockets as they would get back-to-back wins to quickly put the Rockets up 12-0. From there the teams would go back and forth with wrestlers from both schools winning matches. It should also be noted that the Rocket’s all-time wins leader, David Leck, was out on this night with an injury. However, Charlie Black, Keegan Beavers, Peyton Besco, Cade Evans, and Tommy Rogers all would win for the Rockets, which would prove to be just enough as the Rockets would eek out a win over Wellington 42-36. The Rockets are back to business on Saturday, February 1st at the Andover Invitational.

Girls Fall in First Game of Tourney

On Thursday the Lady Rocket basketball team was coming off more than a week break and was ready to get back into action for their mid-season tournament in Haven. Sitting at 5-6 going in they got ready to face Cheney who was the one seed going into the tourney. After the first quarter the Rockets trailed by just eight points. Going into halftime the Rockets would be down by 14. In the second half, however, Cheney would score 23 in the third quarter alone, and the Rockets would be held to only two points in the fourth quarter. The Rockets would end up falling to the one seed Cheney Cardinals by a score of 64-26. The Rockets are right back in action on Friday against Andale, a team they have already seen this season that is also in their league.
