Boys Advance to Semifinals
On Tuesday, the Rocket Soccer Boys traveled to Coffeyville to face off in the State quarterfinals. The Rockets defeated Coffeyville 5-2 in the first game of the season, a loss that was their only loss of the season. The first half kicked off and both teams attacked quickly. Unfortunately, Senior Caden Dinkel suffered a game-ending injury early in the first half. After over 29 minutes of aggressive offense and defense, the Rockets scored first on a goal from Andruw Weeks and assist by Drew Leck. The Rockets would hold this lead for the rest of the half. As the second half began, the Rockets were determined to continue their stellar defense. The Rocket’s defense held Coffeyville scoreless throughout the second half as they held on to their 1-0 lead. With 5 minutes remaining in the game, Coffeyville lost their composure and earned themselves a red card followed shortly thereafter with a yellow card. The Rockets held on for the last few minutes and earned the 1-0 State Quarterfinal victory. With the win secured, the Rockets will now head to the State Semifinals this Friday at 7 pm at the Wichita Stryker Soccer Complex where the boys will face off against Wichita Trinity to determine who advances to the State Championship game.
