Rockets Take Care Of Business
After KSHSAA canceled the State Tournament last March due to COVID-19 and the Rockets State Semifinals matchup with the Orioles, the boys basketball team was looking forward to hosting the Orioles on Tuesday. Jumping right into the first quarter, the Rocket’s offense was ready. With Adriel Smith and Kobe Koehler scoring 9 of the team’s 14 points, the game was close heading into the 2nd quarter. In the 2nd quarter, the Rocket defense took initiative only allowing their opponents to score 8 points as the game was 25-26 Orioles at halftime. However, shortly following the halftime break, the Rockets were about to unleash the secret weapon. In the 3rd, swift offense and even better defense dominated the opposing team. Adriel Smith scored 12 points while Bryson Evans scored 6 points. By the end of the third quarter and start of the fourth quarter, the Rockets had grabbed the lead and intended to run with it. The game was 47-42 Rockets. In the fourth, Smith led once more by scoring 10 points and Nolan and Landrie followed by earning 5 points each. The team scored 24 points in total in the 4th quarter as the Rockets earned a 71-58 victory. After yet another well deserved win, the Rocket boys must prepare to take on the next challenge this Friday at Mulvane.
