Boys Dominate Circle

On Friday the Rockets basketball team played the Clearwater Indians in a heated match.  The Rockets won the tip off and proceeded to score 13 points in the first quarter and keep the Indians to only 3 points.  During the second quarter Clearwater turned it up scoring 11 points compared to the Rockets 4.  Going into the second half the score was 17 – 14.  During the third quarter the Rockets scored 17 points while holding the Indians to only 10 points; at the end of the quarter the score was now 34-24 with the Rockets in the lead.  After trailing the game for three quarters the Indians gave their all to try to win but were only able to score 12 points while the Rockets scored 18 points in the quarter making the final score of the game 52-36.  The leading scorers for the Rockets were Kellan Simoneau with 18 points, Xander Landrie with 13 points, and Adriel Smith scored 11 points.  The Rockets will next play in Andale on Tuesday, January 11.  The next home game for the Rockets will be Friday, January 14 against Collegiate. 

Wrestlers Take 2nd At Augusta

On Saturday the wrestling team participated in the Augusta Invitational. They took 2nd as a team with 177 team points and 3 wrestlers taking first in their class; Johnny Leck went 4-0 with 4 falls taking first in the 106 lb class, Keegan Beavers who was 5-0 with 5 falls took first in the 152 lb class, and Milan Colvin went 5-0 with 4 falls taking first in the 285 lb class. Only one wrestler took 2nd for the day, which was Cade Evans who went 4-1 with 3 falls. Cade suffered his first loss of the season against the number 2 wrestler in the state for the 195 lb class. Two of the wrestlers took third for the tournament; Adam Bilby went 3-2 with 1 fall taking 2nd in the 113 lb class, and Boeden Whitted went 4-1 with 4 falls taking 3rd in the 126 lb class. The wrestlers will be hosting the Wellington Crusaders in a dual on Thursday at 6pm.

Ladies Suffer Defeat To Indians

On Friday the lady Rockets faced off against the Clearwater Indians.  The Rockets lost the tip off to start the game and by the end of the first quarter were down 13- 8.  Starting off the second quarter the Lady Rockets attempted to close the lead down but were stopped when the half ended at 23-13.  The Indians came out the second half on fire scoring 18 points and keeping our Rockets to only 5 points the third quarter, making the score 41-18.  In the fourth quarter the Rockets outscored their Indian opponents 8-4, which was sadly not enough to pull out the game.  The final score was 45-26 with the Indians defeating the Rockets.  The Lady Rockets will next play in Andale on Tuesday, January 11.  The next home game for the Rockets will be Friday, January 14 against Collegiate.

Boys Swim At Andover

On Saturday the Swim team was off to the Andover Invitational meet. They took 10th at the meet with 50 team points. The 200-yard Medley relay consisting of Zander Arheart, Benjamin Kinnan, Dante Robinson, and Landon Rutledge took 9th and got 18 points for the team. In the 50-yard freestyle Rutledge took 11th and scored 6 points for the team with a time of 25.91. In the 100-yard butterfly Robinson set a new PR placing 11th with a time of 1:12.62 scoring 6 team points, Rutledge earned 6 more team points in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.94. Next the 200-yard freestyle took 10th with a time off 1:56.8 scoring 14 team points. The Swim team will be off to their next meet in Winfield on Thursday, January 13th at 4pm.
