Fishing Off Strong

The Rockets faced off against the Independence Bulldogs on Friday for their senior night.  The Bulldogs got the first points on the board with a 41-yard field goal to go up 3-0 on the Rockets.  The Rockets retaliated with a pass from Lane Gardner to Pierce Probasco for a touchdown to go up on the Bulldogs 7-3.  The next points scored were by the Rockets’ kicker, Teagan Cobb, with a 37-yard field goal making the score 10-3 at the end of the 1st quarter.  Independence started off the 2nd quarter with a touchdown to tie the game up but shortly after the Rockets returned with a touchdown from Keegan Beavers making the score 16-10.  Before the end of the half the Bulldog’s kicker hit a 35-yard field goal to make the score 16-13.  Both defenses were playing great stopping the opposing offense drive for drive in the third quarter. However, the Rockets got close enough for Cobb to hit a 40-yard field goal that was the only score of the 3rd quarter.  In the fourth quarter both defenses continued playing well but the Rockets again got in field goal range and Cobb kicked a 49-yard field goal, which was good to finish off the game with a 22-13 win over the Bulldogs.  The Rockets will open up postseason play on Friday when they travel to Towanda to take on the Circle Thunderbirds at 7 pm.
