𝐀 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞!
A few of our middle school students had the incredible opportunity to serve as Legislative Pages at the Kansas House this week. They represented the district with pride, witnessing government in action and experiencing a day filled with learning and excitement.
A huge thank you to Ms. Sally Smith for organizing this amazing experience, Representative Blake Carpenter for hosting our students, and Mr. Markley for being their chauffeur for the day.

The new date for RHMS spring pictures is Thursday, March 6. Due to 7th grade Winner's Circle that day, 7th grade will have their pictures taken first thing in the morning before they leave. You can pre-order pictures following the instructions in the attached picture, or you can wait for proofs to come in before ordering. Each student will receive an order slip with a QR code when they get their picture taken. We have a limited amount of extra pre-order packets in the office, if needed.

Students who qualified for the first semester Winner's Circle activity will be coming home with a personalized permission slip to be signed and returned. Students will be going ice skating at the Wichita Ice Center. Winner's Circle dates are 3/5 (8th grade), 3/6 (7th grade), and 3/7 (6th grade). Please read below from the student handbook on what Winner's Circle is and how students can qualify. If your student did not qualify and you have questions, please contact our assistant principal Ms. Rusk (316-776-3320; trusk@usd394.com). The second semester qualification trip will be in May before school is out. Information on that trip and who qualifies will be sent out closer to that trip.
Winners’ Circle is an activity sponsored by teachers to recognize and reward positive behavior and academic accountability. To become eligible for Winners’ Circle, students must qualify each semester in the following:
1. Academics: A student must hold a 3.0 GPA or better.
2. Behavior: A student must have less than 5 Minor Incident Referrals (MIRs). A student must have zero Office Discipline Referrals (ODRs).
A Winners’ Circle reward trip will be scheduled each semester, for students that qualify for Winners’ Circle.
First semester cut off date to qualify for Winner's Circle will be the last day of the first semester. The GPA
cutoff for second semester will be May 1st, behavior cutoff for second semester will be the date of the trip.
Students attending the Winners’ Circle trip will be excused from that school day. Those students not attending
will be responsible for that day’s normal classroom assignments.

8th grade boys basketball will practice after school tomorrow till 5 pm instead of morning practice. 7th grade will practice after school till 5 pm as well.

Tomorrow's middle school basketball games at Rose Hill will be cancelled due to El Dorado not being able to travel per their district inclement weather policy.
Girls wrestling will be as scheduled in Wellington tomorrow. Girls need to report to RHMS by 2:45.

If RH has school tomorrow, Feb. 20, the middle school will be having its spring picture day. Please have students bring picture packets and money to school. They will also receive a slip with a QR code to order pictures once proofs are in. Should we not have school, we will let you know when pictures are rescheduled.

8th grade students, parents, and guardians: the high school has scheduled its enrollment fair for Wednesday, Feb. 26. It is a come-and-go event from 5:00-8:00pm in the auxiliary gym. Come learn about what all RHHS has to offer!

Parents,
We will open the MS as early as possible in the morning, but probably not before 7:25. Please make sure your children are dressed appropriately. Thanks!

Just a reminder that spring pictures are this Wednesday, Feb. 12 (weather permitting). Students should have brought home a picture packet last week. Extras can be picked up in the office. The back-up day for pictures will be Thursday, Feb. 20.

In-person Middle School Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held Tuesday, 2/25 from 3:30-7:30 and Thursday, 2/27 from 7:30-3:30. Additional Conferences can be held by phone or Zoom link. Please arrange appointments with teachers.

RHMS is excited to announce that we will be transitioning to Cl!x Portrait Studios in the upcoming months! Cl!x will be here for our spring school photos on Feb. 12, while Lifetouch will still do our spring sports. Next fall, Cl!x will handle all school and sports photos for the middle school. If you have already received an email from Lifetouch regarding spring school photos, please disregard, as the school has confirmed spring school portraits will be next Wed., Feb. 12, with Cl!x. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding with this transition and are excited about what Cl!x has to offer! Please call the school office with questions. Flyers for next week's photos will be sent home soon.

Middle school students begin creating their accounts for the school wide fundraiser today. This year, donors can donate money or they can purchase items and RHMS will receive a profit from the items sold. Students can also collect cash to turn it in to the office and will receive credit for it. Students have identified areas/items they would like the proceeds to go towards; those include umbrellas for lunch picnic tables, art work in the middle school, new mats in the MP, new equipment for the gyms, a RHMS sign for outside the building and students are continuing to make suggestions! Students will receive prizes for their fundraising efforts!

Students have begun setting up their online fundraising accounts. If you or your family members receive an email or text link, it is NOT spam. Our annual building fundraiser has begun! Your students should have packets that they will be bringing home today with more info.

RHMS kicked off its spring fundraiser today with an assembly! Students will be bringing home a packet with an info letter and instructions on how to set up their fundraising accounts. They will also be working on setting up accounts tomorrow during Rocket Time. Please contact Rocket Time teachers if you have questions.

RHMS Scholars bowl and girls wrestling will be as scheduled for today.
Scholars bowl will depart from the middle school at 2:30, please have your students there by 2:20.
Wrestling will depart at 3:15, please have students at the school by 3.

RHMS basketball vs Mulvane will be as scheduled today. Departing from the middle school at 3 pm, please have athletes at the school at 2:45.
We are still waiting to hear on scholars bowl and wrestling that is scheduled for today.

Parents - the office is reviewing unpaid fees and will be sending out statements toward the end of January. Please check PowerSchool and make sure balances are paid. This is especially important for 8th grade students, as they will not be able to participate in promotion activities if fees are owed. Please call the office at 776-3320 if you have questions about your account. Thank you! Tim Robertson
