The Rocket's cross country team competed in the Clearwater Invitational is a warm up meet, to get a good look at other teams. The Rockets had some success from the Clearwater invitational, as Mark Adamson placed eighth in the 5k on the boys side. Freshman runner Millie Whitmer placed 12th in the two mile run. Mya McCrea also took 14th in the 5k run. Mark Adamson was the team's highest placing athlete at Clearwater. Coach Barger states that, “The Clearwater meet is usually a meet where we can see what other teams have compared to what we can do, and we get to see our middle school run.”
Next week the Rockets will travel to Wamego on Saturday September 12th for their next meet. Wamego is the host for the state championship meet at the end of October. This is an important meet because it is a preview of what the state course will look like.
